“Jesus answered, ‘If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.'” (Matthew 19:21, NIV)

In this verse, Jesus responds to a man who believed he had earned his salvation through his own ability – his own good work. Jesus reveals that the gospel is accessible to all. It cannot be bought or earned or won.

Jesus, thank you for accommodating us in your free gift of salvation. May we demonstrate this same grace with one another. May we respond by simply and humbly following you.
